What is the British Canoeing Paddle Explore Award?
The Paddle Explore Award allows you to develop your independence on the water to allow you to go on self-guided adventures whilst knowing how to control your craft and stay say on the water. In this award you will take ownership of your own decisions and learn to make confidence choices, based on the places you paddle, wind and weather.
 
Who is it for?
Anyone of any age who wants to develop their skills on the water. At Ackers Adventure you can take the award in either canoeing or kayaking. If you've completed a Paddle Discover Award and want to learn more, the Paddle Explore Award is perfect for you. It'll help you develop a better understanding of the fundamentals of paddling.
 
What is covered in the Paddle Explore Award?
  • On the water etiquette and how to share the space with other water users
  • Information on the different environments that you can paddle in
  • Clothing and equipment needs for different environments and weather
  • Controlling your kayak or canoe safely
  • Safe exploration

Notes:

  • Each session will be led by a qualified, experienced instructor.
  • We provide a Buoyancy aid, Paddle and Boat.
  • Please dress accordingly for the weather.
  • Each group will contain a maximum of 10 people. (Please be aware that if a session has less than 4 people booked on to it then the session may need to be rescheduled).
  • Please bring a change of clothes including shoes and a towel.(just in case!)
  • Bring a packed lunch and a drink.
  • The course is 4 hours with a break for lunch.
